As they say, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” which is why I’m a firm believer in doing it right. I headed to De Beauvoir Crescent to pay a visit to the Barge House a gem of a café restaurant overlooking the Regents canal.
We ordered two of the four breakfast choices; one of which was a recommendation from our waiter ‘The original’ a twist on a full English; smoked bacon, Cumberland sausage and slow roasted tomatoes with oyster mushrooms, cheese and spinach – all tucked up in a bed of bread and topped with a free range egg and a sprinkle of cheese.
Now munching on a fry up without using cutlery does sound like a bit of a messy challenge, but everyone should put down the knife and fork and give it a go!
The second dish was poached eggs, smoked bacon/salmon with cheese and stuffed with spinach, leek, mushroom and crème fraiche.
Together they were the perfect combination for lengthy brunch and the next time I visit, I think the ‘Hot stuff’ breakfast in bread is on the cards.
Don’t forget the Bloody Mary – a brunch staple with vodka infused with chili, cucumber or rosemary.
